Hello everyone,

I read on the sliding patio doors brochure that they are very heavy and require a solid base. Their base frame will sit over a cavity void. I am thinking to close the cavity with a steel plate, they are "standard" 8mm thick, runs all the length along the bottom of the door.

Is that a good idea?

Lots of products exist.

marmox blocks, cavalok, etc.

It's not a new problem, also despite being heavy the load can be spread over considerable cm2.

It's more about the load, half of the frame potentially dangling over the cavity, rather than insulation issues. But yes I will stick some celotex in that (very deep) gap first.
