Helicopter with static blades

On a slightly different note, when I was at school, we were shown the effect a strobe light has on movement.
We were sat in a darkened room in front of a fan, and a strobe light was adjusted to make the fan blades appear stationary.
It was quite weird to feel wind from the fan whilst the blades appeared static.
The same reason why a normal filament lamp should be fitted to moving machinery where the main lighting is fluorescent (or any discharge type.)

That's such a cool video! :D

Pretty sure it is genuine footage of an MI-24 Hind. I think the theory on the frames per second matching the main rotor is about right. If you notice, the tail rotor is spinning a lot slower than normal. I'm guessing, but I'd say the tail rotor should spin at about 2-3 times faster than the main which is why it seems to be going sooo slow!

Love it!
