Hi all,
I really hope someone can help me.

I have a retaining wall in my garden. Only about 15 breeze blocks long and 4 high.
However with the recent extreme frost, the top layer has crumbled significantly.
I want to stop any further damage by rendering/plastering the wall.

But i am complete newbie to such a DIY project and am wondering if someone can offer any advise?

Firstly, is plastering/rendering the right option? If so, what materials will i need, and in what proportions? Please treat me like a complete idiot and be as detailed as possible!!

Thanks in advance. :)

I believe the top two (coping) courses at least will need to be built in dense frostproof bricks and strong mortar. The rest of the wall is not so prone to rain penetration and frost damage so s/be OK in cheaper concrete blocks.
