we have a vailiant boiler which is about 4 yrs old and at the time we got the slightly priceier one so that it would accomodate a four bed house ... we are half way through our extension and will now have 1 bath 2 shower rooms do we need a mega flow ? and which one is best ? bearing in mind we are on a tight budget :( Any help would be much appreciated ...

combi boiler .. its defo a combi boiler ... tried looking for version or number cant see on it although we do have serviced yearly ..

combi boiler ..

If you plan to run more than one shower at once then it's very likely your combi boiler will provide poor hot water performance, and there's not a cat's chance in hell that it'll serve three outlets at the same time.

You don't have to purchase a megaflow, and in fact, you may find that any mains pressure solution is unable to cope with three bathrooms/showers unless you have a very high flow rate from your mains supply, or you fit an accumulator.

I would say a sensible solution would be to keep your combi for supplying the bathroom HW, and then install a vented cylinder and pump to feed the ensuites. This assumes that the boiler has adequate heating capacity to add a cylinder.

thankyou for your response ... should i get a vailiant vented cylinder then or any other make u recommend ?

Unvented cylinders are all much of a muchness - more important is that it's sized correctly for your hot water demands, is fitted with a high recovery rate coil, and that your existing boiler is capable of heating it.

You can still ask your plumber to check the flow rate available at your house to see if a megaflow is viable, although I strongly suspect that it wont be.
