Having never painted over new plaster before it we had no idea we needed to seal it first (BIG mistake). 1 coat of white dulux (2 on ceiling) & 2 colour layers later I removed the masking tape line between the wall and the ceiling to watch all layers peel of with it in patches back to the plaster. OK, so you live and learn - but what do we do with a) the patches and b) and further problems that may arise? The room painted is the bathroom - would the steam in here cause further problems? Do we need to remove all the paint and if so how, or is it OK to fill and sand the patches and just repaint?
Any advice would be very appreciated.

What is the name and make of the paint ?

What is the exact instructions also ?

Thanks for the response. The paint is regular matt dulux emulsion as perchased mixed to order from B&Q, with a plain white dulux basecoat (same type of paint) Yep, have now read the instructions (should have done this first) and it does recomend sealing first with 50/50 mix.
Any suggestions?

repair the damage with a filler like polyfilla (not ready mix) rub down to blend, touch in the filla with a watered down coat of your emulsion then recoat..
Using masking tape on new emulsion is bound to pull it off... emulsion takes aprrox 30 days to fully cure through.. Try to cut in the wall to ceiling ...But thats another story ... ;)

good luck..

Ordinary emulsion will continue to peel in the bathroom, you need proper bathroom paint.
