Help fitting basin waste

I comes with a nut and a very thin washer. Instructions say that the washer should be placed between the nut and the underside of the basin like so:

Waste
-----
Basin
-------
Washer
------
Nut


But the hole in the basin underneath is slightly deformed so the washer doesn't actually sit flush with it.

What should I do? and don't I need a washer between the waste and the top of the sink? The washer is extremely thin, less than 1mm

I 1000% agree with the above. I have the exact same waste you are buying the fitted it originally without a 'basin mate', just used silicone sealant. it was fine for about 4 months then started to leak. I bought a basin mate from B&Q, it is the best £1 I have ever spent. Takes minutes to fit, no need for any silicone sealant and does work.

They are indeed a fantastic bit of kit.I bought one from ToolStation 17th April 2010 and used it on a basin that was possessed by the dripdevil.Worked first time with no mucky Plumbers Mate or Silicon.Thanks.
