My machine stopped mid cycle full of water. Have drained manually and managed to get to spin the clothes in there. No sound at all that the pump was working or attempting to work. On investigating at the back of the machine, bottom right hand side there is a big black pipe, connected to the righthand end of this is, I think the pump (sorry very much a machine novice) .Next to this is a black box with a black and blue wire connecting into it via a white plastic connector. on pulling apart this connector the live black has burnt out and become disconnected.

Can anyone tell me if I can replace this connector myself and if so where I can get one online. Bit unsure if can as it seems to be factory moulded, however it does look to come apart (but the plastic on this one has burnt together so can't be certain).

Any tips as to why this may have happened and what I can do to prevent it happening again.

Cut the wiring back a little and fit a new insulated spade connector.
Available from Maplin and similar shops.
It may be that your pump has overheated and will need replacing.

Thanks

unfortunately though I have looked online for spade connectors, but they do not appear to be the right bits. The connector I am looking for is a small white moulded plastic block (think it would be the female end of the connector) with a hole for each of the wires to go into. The male part of the white box is actally connected to the electronic looking black box next to the ?pump

Any Ideas?

Doesn't matter what colour the insulator is. Just fit new insulated spade connectors (female). The original ones are normal spades (uninsulated) with a seperate plastic insulator.

Sounds obvious but have you checked that 'rinse hold' has not been selected?

re rinse hold...def not on, as have run just on spin cycle to try and drain some more of the water out manually

re spade connectors, got it now, having seen a picture to confirm it is the pump I was talking about.

Will give it a try tomorrow.

Is it worth while checking the pump for blockages and is this relatively easy to do...ie a matter of taking the pipes off etc

I have replaced the original block with the 2 spade terminals as advised but the pump is still not running. Any further ideas?
I made sure to isolate the two terminals, and just tried it on a rinse and spin. the rinse was no problem and i was so certain that it would work, but no. When the machine gets to the point of draining it just shuts off and the machine says END.
Any further advice would be very much appreciated.
