Could someone tell me where I can find this thing. I removed it from a light sign of one restaurant but I could not find a new one. There is no sign on it, no code. It looks like a letter "U" and I think is a bulb but seems to be used as a starter. I already checked in three quite big electric shops but noone of the staff have seen something like this before.

If someone knows what this is and where to find it, please let me know.

Thank you very much!

this may be a dim question, but why did you remove it?
to me it looks like something to do with neon (cold cathode) but not quite sure what.
What other control gear is there?

I don't remember, but if you find a local supplier of neon signs, they should know. Neon signs are often made to order by bending glass tube with a torch, so there are a few small workshops making them in larger towns.

i too am thinking its part of the sign.

AFAIK the only switch gear they have is a great big step up transformer
