Hello

I've a Smiths Space Saver plinth heater SS5, which has just started leaking droplets of water from one of its isolating valves.

Both valves are open, it makes no difference if I move them.

I turned the central heating on this week for 24 hours, and it seems to have started after this.

Anyone know how to stop this before it ruins the floor!

Thanks,

It all depends on exactly what is leaking.

Gland usually needs replacing.

Connections usually just need tightening.

thanks for the response Tony.

It's probably more correct to say it's weeping - and that's from the 'screw' on the valve.

Even a weep is a leak.

You MIGHT be able to stop that by wobbling the slot about 45 degrees either way!

That often stops it. But sometimes makes it worse!

Unfortunately the quality of many of those iso valves is very poor!

Agreed, there are some very poor quality ball o fix type valves out there.

If you have to go to the trouble of draining down to replace them, think about spending an extra few pounds and look to buy better quality full bore 1/4 turn valves.
