Help! Main stopcock broke off in my hand !

As the title suggests , I was going to turn the stopcock off under my sink and the handle just sheared off

It has been stiff for a while. What I want to know is , is it a case of me calling a plumber or is it the water boards job ?

useally is. but when ever i say that it turns out to be a pain.
under cupboard kick board, to close to ground etc.

Thanks Seco. Well I've made it very easy for the plumber as I've detached the sink and units from the wall , so its totally accesible.

It can be very embarrassing to have a stiff cock that then breaks off, I hope it gets fixed OK
