help needed - broken upvc door handle/mech'

After pulling the door handle whilst locked (with a little too much force) the handle seems to have gone completely slack, as if not connected to the bar between the handles. so now the bolts won't move to get the door open.

before I start taking the thing apart, can anyone give advice on what the problem may be, and what I need to do to fix it?

you could have sheared the door gearing the best way forward,is to reove the two or three screws holding handle on.some have a allen stud to the spindle then remove and inspect the gearing for loose or hanging peices this will be visable through where the door is routed.

Could just be the spindle is a little short, and just needs re-inserting into the handle.
