Help needed on connecting USB-COM lead to texecom premier elite 48.

I haven't been able to find much info on how to connect the USB-COM lead( jac-0001) to my premier elite panel to program it.


what is the exact procedure that I need to take to plug the lead in?

I think the steps that I need to follow are...

put engineer hold on siren,
remove fuse from fuse spur,
disconnect backup battery in panel,
then connect USB-COM lead to panel,
reconnect battery in panel,
put fuse back into fused spur,
connect USB-COM to laptop and open wintex?

my system is not installed yet. I'm learning bits that I need for when I do install it.

I'm a novice at alarm systems.
I want to work on the panel when it is completely powered down as in mains off and battery unplugged so that I can take my time and not fry the system if I make mistake.

No just plug it on to a com port …make sure you have set a UDL code …default 1234 , but you have to put it in the panel , you might have to download the usb drivers

The usb com is just a data connection to the panel, no need to do anything apart from plug it in.
If I did what you suggest every time I worked on a system.....well I'd never get any work done, lol.
