Help needed on Valve that is near hot water cylinder

YEp it certainly looks like a bypass (first connection after pump) and providing you don`t have trvs on every rad then just close it .
mid position valve will always have an open port to allow a flow in fault conditions a lot of people add them even though not a requireent on mid position system

Unfortantely we do have Radiator Thermostat valves on each rad in the house. So should I open the valve back up.

Not having the knowledge of Central Heating and Hot water systems why would this matter is I have a TRV on each rad an extra safety.

E.g When the rad hit is temp the TRV cuts off the flow and diverts it to the next rad in the system.

House is about 12 years old.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts please?

Should I shut the valve based on the fact of having TRV on each rad.

If so, why should I do this - see previous post

Can I ask why ? Could you give me a brief explanation.

I did close the valve for 1 day and the radiators were a lot hotter, they were kicking out plenty of heat.

if you close the bypass, then the rads trv's all close, and the one rad without trv where the room stat is is still calling for heat, but the rest are closed so the water gos round the bypass.

if you say it was ok when you shut the bypass then get rid of the gate valve and fit a bypass valve.
it will only open when needed.
