Seriously though the public are made very frightened of calling anyone from Yellow Pages by these Rogue Traders TV programs.
Its so serious that YP have found a significant negative attitude to traders readvertising with them. They are also very carefully checking CORGI registration to anyone advertising in certain sections.
The reality if that over 90% of plumbers and gas engineers are totally honest and DONT rip anyone off.
The remaining 10% might take the opportunity to somewhat overcharge if the opportunity presented itself.
In fact I find that about 20% of gas engineers try to avoid paying me when I do work for them! With builders though that rises to 50% .
