Chimney needs pointing
Current soakers are little use as they are cut into and damaged
Re flash the stack
There does appear to be s saddle which is under the ridge if it is properly formed that's fine .. over the ridge is not essential check the head around the pots.

When it comes to re-flashing the stack what is the correct approach? Why do roofer do the above individual "dog ear flaps" instead of a continuous step flashing?
All the standards suggest the below arrangement, why is it common to see individual pieces that wont keep out wind driven rain?
