Roof leak near chimney

Hoping someone can help narrow down where this leak might be coming from.

Chalet bungalow, leak appeared after heavy rain. Chimney on the other side of the bedroom wall but no sign of damp there.

first roofer checked flashing, said it looked ok but added a random bit of cement.

seconf roofer also said flashing looked good but lead tray in chimney missing. Convinced waters coming in through bricks and that rebuild of chimneys required. Big money obviously.

can’t see chimney stack in roof space cause it’s a chalet but no sign/smell of damp. Any ideas? Thanks

Looks like the side flashing is damaged (in Red) The dobbed of muck is hiding something I expect...
Also any water going under where the yellow arrow is will have no where to go because its trapped in by the muck.
Never mind lifting up the step flashings pull the rubbish off and look properly

Point while up there
