Really appreciate some help please.
I have recently moved into a new house and not familiar with my heating hot water system.
Can someone please tell me what the red wheeled gate valve is for? I recently tried to isolate the hot water and did try to close this valve and I believe it was shut. When opened the system lost its pressure. I have closed this valve and pressurised the system back to 1 bar. I have since realised the isolation for the HW is the black plastic valve.
The hot water and heating system appears to be working ok now, my concerns really are I cannot remember if the valve was shut tight or slightly cracked open.
I will attach some pictures of the pipework in my airing cupboard an hope someone can identify
1. What the valve is for
2. Should it be open or closed
