I've replaced the front spring on my Fiesta 2014 but it creaks when turning between each lock. Further investigation and it's clear that the spring is not seated properly at the top. The top-hat bearing is all ok. I'm struggling to seat it correctly. As I let the spring clamps off it simply slips off to one side (at the top). The bottom is fine as it sits in it's own groove.
Am I correct in saying that it relies on the shock-absorber boot for it's alignment? That the bearing should sit snug into the boot and the boot then snug into the top of the spring? It appears that boot is deformed. I assume that this is the problem and it needs replacing?
Anyone done this exercise before themselves and can confirm what I have deduced?

If you’re sure it’s not the top bearing that is creaking on turning, have you looked at the bottom ball joint or the track rod end?

IIRC these have an angled top for the spring to sit against? I can't see it in your pics, is everything there?
These don't have the angled piece.
Just as an update. I tried it all again and WAS the top hat bearing after all. Bought a new one this morning, fitted it and now all good. Quiet as a nut.
Happy days!
