Hi DIYnot-ers

I have a looped ceiling rose in my bedroom which I’m trying to replace with a screw in e27 - don’t ask!

Can’t get the circuit to work properly, Doh!

Included pictures of existing, new fitting and current position.
I seem to have tried all cable positions and the can get past the bulb itself working via the switch, but the rest of upstairs not working.

Help please

not right

where was the neutral for the light on the first image - frn those 2 blacks - should be a wire to the light itself

so you have 3 reds all joined - which you need - thats Live in > Live out > and live to the switch
then you have 2 blacks joined - neutral Neutral in > Neutral out
then you have a black wire - should have red sleeving which is the switched Live from the switch

looking at the 2nd picture - that is not the setup you have replicated

Look at your picture and the old fitting and see the 3 reds were only connected together and nowhere else

yep, you can see the Blue wire goes to the 2 Blacks
so its as i said and Sunray

Show a photo of the 3 terminals on the new light fitting

and then you need the connector blocks - 1 for the 3 reds on own
Black that was on th econnector with the brown goes to the light fitting
2 Blacks go to the other part of the fitting

then earths - green

is this what you all are looking for?
Well yes but you have already posted enough of that for our needs.

All you have to do is replicate that,
and then you need the connector blocks - 1 for the 3 reds on own
Black that was on the connector with the brown goes to the light fitting
2 Blacks go to the other part of the fitting

then earths - green

but now you have to identify the 3 blacks.

Do you have any sort of test equipment?

Am I right in thinking the black arrowed is longer than the others?

Are any of the white marks paint and still visible?

Your starting point is along this line with 3 reds in a block on their own

Assuming I’ve understood your explination properly

The new light fitting only has 3 terminals
1 for earth
1 for live
1 for neutral

If I join reds with a connector block, put one in earth that leaves 3 blacks (brown one to Live spot in new fitting) two raining blacks in one slot?
Is that safe? I have a multitude of spare connector blocks.

Black arrowed wire is definitely longer than the other two.

Can’t see any paint- think it’s just the lighting of the picture
