Hello

I have an old T6360B thermostat which has 4 wires connected to it.

Red going into connection 1 - Live?
Blue going into connection 2 - Neutral?
Yellow into connection 3
Green/Yellow - earth

I am trying to replace it with a WickesTH147E non programmable digital thermostat which only has 2 connection points marked R and W

Can I use this with my system and if so do I need to make safe some of the old wiring?

any help appreciated

Hi, can you confirm where these wires are connected into the terminals of the old T6360B thermostat?

If the terminals connected are as follows..
(Earth has it's own dedicated connection)
1) red
2) blue
3) yellow

...then having isolated the electrical supply all you need do is to connect red and yellow to the two terminals of the new thermostat.

The old neutral wire is no longer used and should be safely taped up out of the way. The earth will only be required if the new thermostat is mounted in a metal box.

Use a proper electrical connector (choc block or similar) not just tape!
