I was given an SDS max drill with an assortment of drill bits and "extensions" for going through thick walls.
I have only used this occasionally for drilling holes for putting in a new toilet waste or wash-basin waste etc. This tool really does the trick, no matter how tough the wall. However, the problem I have is trying to take it all apart again (eg the core drill bit from the extensions and the extensions from each other)!
It all came with a set of drift keys but I cannot get them to separate the various components. I usually have to resort to heating up the core bit (with boiling water) and then giving the extension part a mighty whack with a lump hammer. This works but I am sure this is not the right way!
As you will tell from this, I am not techy minded when it comes to this sort of equipment. No doubt this will have given many of you a good laugh but I really would like to know the correct way to do this!
