HELP - Sockets wont work with an Iron!?!?!?!?!

Hi,

Tried to iron something today and the iron didn't work. Popped down to Robert Dyas and bought a brand spanking new one and....that doesn't work either.

I'm no mathmatician but the chances of it being the irons themselves is slim and so I think it is the electrics.

I've tried all the sockets with the kettle and this still works, so what on earth could the problem be. I've switched the power off and on again and tested the earth trip and still nothing?!

Yep tried that so took the iron back, got a new one, now works!
