I would think that would not be too easy. The diameter of the L & N conductors in 2.5 mm² T+E is about 1.78 mm, so a fair bit of judgement would be required to use it as a guide when trying to distinguish between 2.1 mm and 2.5 mm (diameter) plugs/sockets.

    Kin Regards, John

when you know nothing about electrics you panic and basically look for the same as the sticker on current label

it’s not easy to interpret for someone like me despite all the helpful advice :)

You believe wrong. That is the plug outside diameter.

You have been advised more than once regarding the current rating of the adapter.

Now you also know about the centre pin diameter, so you don't need to interpret anything more. Just determine the size of the centre pin and order the appropriate device.

The pin, is the pin size of the pin in the socket. They are specced by the outside sleeve size, plus the size of the pin which makes contact with the hole in the middle of the sleeve.

Now you need to look in the end of the plug, on the right in the picture and measure the size of the hole.
Or get a PSU with the multi adapter ends as previously suggested.

Hi all thanks for all the advice so far!

So sorry but this may change the requirement!!

apologies My dad didn’t explain his alarm unit properly

basically the power adapter has a wire - that has a female end I believe

this then splits into the Alarm panel and a transmitter - via a “Male”

so the power adapter I need to source has no pin! It has a female end connector :/

don’t think they sell this anywhere???

Sadly original Adaptor is not available supplier has confirmed :(

    Any ideas?
