Hi,

I am trying to unscrew the valve inside my kitchen tap. Theyre bristan ones. I have attached a photo. It is trickling water so would like to replace the valve.

I have tried boiling water, wd40. But it won't budge. Any other tips in how to remove it? Would much prefer to do this than have to buy a whole new tap!

Thank you

Long adjustable spanner on the spout, one on the valve and give it some welly...

Is this a nifty tool that I know nothing about or is it literal? Because the literal option sounds about right
It's a red stick with a string you light at the end!!! Lol

“Wd40 specialist penetrant spray”

I would prefer someone more knowledgeable than me would confirm if it will make a difference
Oh I see! I just googled it. I only used the general one so this may be an option, thank you I shall see if anyone can confirm.

Have you tried tightening first, then go the other way. Hard water area? Soak it in scale remover.

As you realise, you don't want the tap body to turn - just in case a leak starts below!
The brass parts will be well gummed up with limescale or whatever.......I use a cordless impact wrench and a deep drive socket. Do you know any mechanics that could help you out?
John :)
