Hi Building Guru's,

What are these either side of the window, other than buggered and unsightly????

Is it a massive job to replace????
where would i find such items new???

the house is 1937 built, old police house.

If they are the bits you are referring to, they are to support the roof level gable end which overhangs the walls. Its a big job to replace them with corbled out brickwork and I am not sure that it would work down the length of the roof, i.e. you could support the front of the gable, but not its depth, you would have to re-truss the roof.

i Was refering to the buggered sandstone bits with a big oldf rusty bar going through the middle.

They are corbels, and they will not be sandstone but just reinforced concrete.
They can be replaced, but you would have to corbel 3 0r 4 courses of brickwork out to match. Google 'brick corbels' and you will see many pics showing
the principle. Not an easy DIY job - more one for a bricklayer, and a good one at that.

That's the bad boy!
I was thinking about just replacing the full concrete reinforced block!
Rather than bricking it back!

There's a company down the road who makes reconstituted blocks to measure!

I wasn't too good at Jenga!!!!!
