lintel?

hmmm where to start.

a porch was build on our house 10 years ago. a door with a window either side (original front door)

thing is i dont want the (original) door and the windows there. would i need a lintel if i knock out the frame work?

any help would be good.

is there not a lintel there already?

the door and windows, are they made from timber?

is there a brick/block gable above the door and windows, or do you have maybe a lean-to roof or a hipped roof for instance?

its a wood frame and the porch is a lean to.

it has plaster board around so i cant distinugish if there a lintel or if its just bricks.

there is a strong chance some of the roof weight will be bearing down on the frame.
you will probably have to support the roof whilst removing the door and windows. this may involve removing the existing ceiling.
