Now my next question is, how do I add 2 extra cables to power my new ceiling light (switched) and illuminated mirror (unswitched). If you can advise me against my original photo, that would be perfect because I can then replicate that in my junction boxes.
All earths connected together.
All neutrals connected together.
Live to mirror from permanent live.
Live to new lamp from switched live.
But which terminal in the rose is which?
Earth is obvious. Permanent live is where the 3 reds join in the middle.
Switched live and neutral are the other two terminals. Most likely, the one with the blue wire is neutral and the one with the yellow wire is switched live - but I don’t think we’ve completely proved that. (Remember that although blue is today the colour for neutral, in “old colours” it was one of the 3-phase lives.) You could check this by looking at the fan connections (the fan isolator connections don’t prove anything) or by determining which of the black wires comes from the switch (that’s the switched live). Or you could just assume that the blue indicates the neutral and probably be right.
