Help with broken toilet flusher

My apologies Dilalio for duplicating your suggestion , I missed that !!
Diyfronts , the shaft doesn't look like its metal to me. It would take a lot to snap metal of that diameter. You sure its not plastic ?
If it is ,and you have a gas hob or anything like ,heat up a sewing needle till its red hot ,holding it with pliers and melt it in at an angle ,say 45 degrees.
Leave it in to cool. Then pull the shaft up.....maybe !!

Diyfronts, can you put a photo up of the cistern, and any pipework visible underneath please? It'll quickly determine what setup you have, and we can advise you on the best option going forward, as at the moment I think taking the siphon out may be the only option.
