You know the deal. Set the diswasher to run overnight. Set progamme to wash.
Woke up the next morning and the dial was still in the start position. Motor running and whirring but no water in machine and no programme run. Dirty dishes!

From reading messages opn the forums I figure either the inlet solenoid or the timer but can't decide which.

When I pour a jug of water into the drain and move the dial to rinse, the machine empties the water ok but the dial just sits on whatever position it is set to.

Is there any test I can do to identify the solenoid or timer as the problem, or is there another culprit I'm missing?

Any help appreciated!
Many thanks and best regards to everyone!

I should say the solenoid, because the m/c is waiting for water to enter before it can wash, then move to the next job. check to see if the water supply pipe actually has water, sometimes the pipe gets bent blocking it, or check the mesh on the valve for the water inlet, alos you could try turning the water off and starting the m/c you should hear the valve humming

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply so quickly.
I'll follow your suggestions and hopefully I can bin my bottle of Fairy Liquid!

Thanks again and very best wishes
