Hi all

Not sure if this should be in this section, seemed like it could go in many.

I have just bought a split type AC for my main living space.

Its a big chungy 24,000 BTU inverter sytem which should be lovely!

The indoor unit measures 330mm(H)x1080mm(W)x222mm(D) and weighs 17KG.

It needs to be mounted something like this:

My idea is to mount the AC to a piece of plywood, then mount the plywood to the pillar.

It seems to be load bearing, but I cannot confirm what its actually made of , it seems hollow when I knock on it.

Any ideas?

As in a big metal stand essentially?

Would probably work, but would be quite cumbersome. 17kg isnt too bad, There should be a way to mount it onto that, maybe using the roof as a support somehow?

I just drilled a test hole, its plasterboard then wood, around an inch thick, so it should be easy enough to mount it.
