Hi everyone, I have a query about my hot water and electric boiler situation in my own high storey flat. Last week the old 1960s style hot water cylinder in the bathroom cupboard was replaced with a new electric boiler which sits in the hallway cupboard. I also had the radiators replaced as it was a package deal as I had no heating in the flat and now have hot water 24/7 as before it was on a timer.

None of the old pipes in the bathroom cupboard were replaced, plastic pipes have been used along with copper ones from what I can see. I have broken out in a severe rash all over my body since the new boiler was put in and had a few questions regarding the work carried out.

My question is, do any of the valves attached to the pipes for hot water in the bathroom cupboard need to be adjusted as they were set to the old hot water cylinder for more than 40 years, is the water flow rate the same as before or should there have been adjustments made?

The boiler has no hot water temperature dial in fact I have never seen a boiler like this before looks quite heavy duty (Drayton LP 111) any idea how I change the hot water temp?

There are three stopcocks/valves in the bathroom cupboard and two of them turn the hot water on and off and I think one is for the cold water in the kitchen as there is no valve under the kitchen sink.

Any information would be great as the people who put in the boiler have given me 10 days to mention any issues and I thought I would get some advice before giving them a call.
I have attached some photos of the boiler, the pipes in the bathroom cupboard and the valves, thank you.

The Drayton LP711 is merely an external timeclock for setting the ON-OFF timings for your heating. Please put the cover back on the boiler and send in a photo of the whole heater with manufacturer's name clearly shown. Alternatively a pic of the data plate, probably behind the front cover.

You may have a cylinder, or you may have a thermal store, both of which will have temperature adjustment, but that will usually be set by the installer. Is there a user manual? Again the installer should have left one. The answer seems clear....contact the installer with all your questions, including "where are my user instructions?". Unless you've been a pest (that's me thinking out loud) I don't see why the installer would put a deadline on sensible questions.

Thank you for the response, the boilers case is not fixed onto it as they are returning to put it on and there was no instruction booklet left, which was a great point as I need to get one and figure out how to use it.
The biggest thing is for me to set the hot water temperature as it is burning hot in every tap I will call them again and see when they can come out, and your pest comment made me chuckle, but again a good point why put a deadline on sensible questions. I took some pics and wonder if the small red dial would set the hot water although I don't know what it does or the big black one which says Danfross Thermostat and it does seem to turn from 1 to 5?

The "Sharky" meter in your 4th photograph is a heat meter, so I suspect the heat for both your heating and hot water is supplied from a central boiler, not one in your property.

The Drayton LP111 is a single channel programmer, and is likely to be used to control the times when the heating (not hot water) is on or off. I would expect there to be a wall mounted or free standing thermostat in the property to turn off the heating via a motorised valve when the desired temperature is reached. However, as you will pay based on the heat metered into the property, a thermostatic valve on each radiator to turn it off when the room it's in reaches temperature should suffice.

From your photographs I can't see what sort of hot water cylinder you have but I suspect it is an unvented cylinder, with indirect heating via an internal coil through which circulates hot water from the central source. There should be a thermostat in the cylinder which can be set by the user. If you are not satisfied with the temperature, ask the installers to raise / lower it and show you how to do it.

With respect to the rash, I can only suggest you see a doctor. It's unlikely, although possible, that you could be allergic to the plastic used in the pipes, but perhaps more likely that the installation raised dust / fibres and you are reacting to these. Only a doctor can tell, and diagnosis is a long process

Stand back a bit when you're taking the photos - a picture of the entire unit rather than close-ups of individual components would be useful here

Sorry tried with these pics (sideways)
