This is fed buy armoured cable, everything works fine off of this, my pump, my pond lights my uv light etc. So I thought ok get a 200w security light fitted as my shed is 30 mtr from the house and it will save me carrying a blooming torch. Followed instructions that were supplied but no joy the light wont come on, I get a live reading from the terminal block and a tiny live from the earth. Ive even stuck a plug on the end of it but still nothing. Now before you say get another light this is the second one ive purchased thinking it was a fault but nope none of them work. I think ive covered it all, soooo help me stop banging my head on my shed door at night please lol [/url]

Is it a linear lamp? If so, make sure the ends are properly against the terminals and it rotates easily. Do not touch the glass with fingers.

Most PIR sensors have a day night sensor that prevents them coming on when there is any light already there. Have you tried testing it in the dark with the plug on it ?

Also how did you detect there was a live ? What is a "tiny live" as found on your earth ?.

Fitting the light is notifiable work, and a 200W light won't comply with building regulations.

I used a electrical tester, the earth is hardly a pulse, Ive not tried it in the dark with a plug on but ive left it connected and just went out (now dark) played with the LUX settings still not joy will try it with a plug tomorrow after I finish work...

Its actually a 500w pir light but on my house I have the same and its just too bright for what I require so 200w halogen bulb has replaced the 500w....
