Hi guys i am painting this room.

It is all going to be painted, i have just removed the border (which is leaving the different coloured bit in the middle of the pics).

The only problem is that it is rough and obviously there is a kind of 'step' between where the border has been taken off and where the rest of the walls are painted.

What would be the best way to get the whole thing level (where the border has been taken off). Is there some sort of filler or plaster i need.

Im not very clued up on everything so really appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Ahhhh, the dreaded border repair......

The best way I find to do this, is to sand back as much as the edge/step as possible, and if you still feel its indented, then apply some powder filler over it to get it flush with the wall.
When dry, sand gently, run your hand over it, and if it in parts its still slightly proud, do it again on thease areas.

When its done and its all flush with the wall, and before you paint, get some diluted PVA, and brush that on the whole border area,( this will seal the filler and prevent it blowing when you come to paint.
When dry, and again before you roll, just dab some of your paint along the border a couple of times then you can roll. :D

I bet it was self adhesive...evil on a roll!

The only problem I find with filling is after its all rubbed down nicely etc and painted the bit with the filler on shows up becasue its flat and hasnt got the orange pee effect of the rest of the painted walls..

Two ways round it if that is the problem..

Touch it up using a radiator roller first

Line the room

Thanks for the advice guys.

Im getting some filler from Wickes today which apparently rubs down easily.

Will get that on and then smooth it off.
