Hello...

My toilet is pretty dilapidated. I want to install what I like to call a bum gun on the toilet. There is a very nice PVC pipe that feeds the cistern that would be perfect if it didn't have these Hep20/similar on it because then I could just saw an inch off, install etc.

I will get a picture up but just in the meantime - are there very similar brands and can I just buy a hep20 key?

Bonus question - do the fittings go back on once you've removed them?

Most of those cleaners are not to UK standards and to comply it involves separate supplies.
Check out different categories of water supplies

Not allowed, it needs it's own supply from it's own storage cistern.

As suggested, it is against UK regulations to supply an ablution device (bum gun) from the cold mains supply in the UK. This is due to the risk of contamination of the/your mains drinking water by bacteria that will undoubtedly contaminate the end of the gun, simply by using it.

Please don't install one without a correct water supply. Unfortunately though, installing the proper supply setup is expensive, it better than the alternative though.

Cheers everyone, thats really good to know - I do not want to potentially contaminate the cold water.

Anyone know the reg so I can have a look?

Now I know why the bidet in the en-suite that I removed (wife doesn’t like them) had its own cold supply from the (shared) header tank in the loft.

Yup, that's exactly why and even then that may not have been enough if it was an ascending type spray bidet.

Cat5 backflow protection needs a cistern with an air gap and a weir overflow, which a standard cold water cistern wouldn't have had.
