Any rules/tips on buried pipes?
I need to chase out for my shower pipes. Is it ok/best to render/plaster over these once in place or are there better alternatives?
Ideas/experiences welcome.
You could fit pvc trunking on other side of wall and pop the pipes through wall, or if don't want, you can buried pipes in wall, make sure you wrap around pipes with special tape ( I can't remember the name, it the one which is stickly and brown ) and fill chase with plaster, then tiles up wall anf fit shower. Avoid chase when shower fix to wall eg mounting screw etc. Reading install manual will help.
Run the whole length that you want to bury in plastic without joints and sleeve them with flex conduit. Copper can get corroded by mortar and movement in wall can break the best quality copper even with perfect soldering. Good plastic comes with up to 50 years warranty these days.
Denso (or Sylglass, as I used) does a great job but unless you have enough depth to add another protective layer of plastic it will bleed through the plaster. OK if you're tiling over it but not OK if painting.
