I have a Hisense induction hob which has worked perfect for the past 2.5ish years. Then, all of a sudden we noticed that the touch controls started to play up.
So you might be boiling water then you want to turn it down to simmer but the touch Vol up/down doesn't respond. You then you have to turn it off at the wall and run the risk of tripping the cooker due to the sudden surge then back on to hopefully get it back up and running, for another short period of time

Does anyone know why or should I just spend another £200-£300 on a new one ?

You could try this not sure it will work but taken from another website

Leave your hob unplugged for around 4 hours.

Then press and hold the START Button.

Keep it held in, and ask someone to plug it back for you.

Then, wait another 10 seconds, and let go of the START button.

Now, turn the hob on, back off, and back on; it should work.

you should spend £400 or £500 on a new one a well known make

*Bump*
I thought my findings might help others,
So the hob started to work again, then stopped then worked so it got me thinking ?
Could it be the control touch board which is a simple fix and I saw one on eBay.

I undid the hob to get the exact part number and it was then I noticed something. The metal consetina buttons on the board were greasy and grimed up. I felt the underside of the glass were the metal buttons sit and it was sticky.

So I gave and the buttons and the underside of the glass a good clean, put it together and get presto it seems to have done the trick. I also ever so slightly stretched the metal spring buttons by a millimetre.

I can only imagine that a good few years of the oven sending grime steam and gunk up top has greased up the glass and button stopping it from responding.
Hopefully I've fixed it but only time will tell. So if your induction hob stops responding and all the tips resetting fail turn it off at the breaker and try it. Mine was 7 screws to access the board.
Hope it works for you
