apparently the yanks have given contaminated blood to thousands of people and they are suffering or have died cause of it,

this happened in the 70's and 80's , people who needed blood were given this contaminated blood on the NHS , which came from convicts and criminals in jail at the time(BBC News).

who do you think is to blame?

apparently the yanks have given contaminated blood - who do you think is to blame?

The people who screen the blood.

There is no reason to suggest that a cross section of prisoners are any more likely to carry harmful diseases than a cross section of the general public.

yes there is, the majority being IV drug users, or users on the street selling their blood for their next fix.

yes i suppose criminals live upright an honest lives like the rest of us eh,

that could be one reason , GLOIT

The sad thing is a lot of people who were made ill with the contaminated blood are now dead.

A guy I worked with his brother in law was a haemophiliac and he had a few transfusions of this contaminated blood and he caught hep c and HIV.

He died a pretty horrible death from all accounts.

The answer is still the same - the people who screen the blood.

Of course it is heir fault, not sure of the mechanics of how all that was supposed to be done but its most terrible,

Otherwise you are getting into a debate about the sources of blood donour

the fault lies firstly in my opinion with the yanks , why should they sell or give us blood from cons and the worst off society, ??

did they even inform the receivers of the source of blood??

and of course then it should have firstly been screened before bieng pumped into innocent people :x

people's trust is being sha~ted time and again.

Blood is blood at the end of the day and there ain't enough to meet the demand so why shouldn't they get it from convicts if the blood is okay?

Cr@p screening is to blame IMO.

if they breach trust like this and then show it to us as news is one of the main reasons why people will not give blood,

they might use second hand needles next, who knows.

sos forgot how to spell needles

Newgas: Giving blood isn't the problem (and never has been) ... Receiving the blood is where the danger lies.

why should the problem only lie there,

could it be because of incompetence, or some other failings?

as bush once famously quoted" fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame er on ? you"
