Hive heating controls - worth it?

As above, on a special on Amazon for Prime customers until 12 midnight today. Normally £249 fitted, on offer for £138 including fitting by a BG engineer. We have a hive unit already connected to our router that just operates a couple of bulbs in lamps. Is it just a gimmick - wifey thinks so. Will it work on my system - Vaillant EcoTech plus and unvented cylinder.

I take it this would replace our digital controller and thermostat?

Hive is the least intelligent & energy saving of all the connected thermostats. You're much better off getting a Honeywell T6 Lyric
