Hive mini without smart hub

Hi

If you have a system boilor with a honeywell wireless analogue dial thermostat.

With Drayton controls wired by the cylinder for hot water and also turn heating on.

If I got the hive mini installed without smart hub . Would I still be able to control hot water or does the mini override it.

In other words do you need smart hub to be able to turn hot water on amd off ?

If you are looking at a new install you will need a Hub for it to work

Is the smart hub not just for remote access and more features ?

If the hive mini gets installed and this Drayton controls are left in.

Would the hot water still not work without hub by just leaving the hot water set to on via the Drayton settings ?
