Hi

I am just after some quick advice. I am removing a Nest thermostat and replacing it with a Hive one. The Nest is using OpenTherm which I know the Hive doesn't use. My current wiring can be viewed here

In picture 2 you can see the OT connection - I am just going to remove this.

In picture 3, I am going to remove the wire bridge between stat/timer and instead connect it to the wires that are used currently for the OT connection to the Heat Link. I will instead terminate these to the NO and NC connections in the Hive receiver.

Should I just ignore the common wire requirement in the Hive receiver?

You shouldn't have the cover off your boiler. It forms the safety room seal and should only be removed and refitted by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer, who will then carry out the Regulation 26.9 checks before putting the boiler back into operation.

Also, why are you switching to a crappy Hive? It'll make your boiler less efficient.
