If you turn the Hive up to maximum, or if the Hive is removed from the backplate, does the heating turn off?

the heating only turns on when I put the receiver back on the plate. If it’s not on the boiler sits at zero

Doesn’t turn on when I move it over
there appears to be unseen connections between the boiler and the Hive,
Do you know where these connections are made? Does the cable to the Hive come from the FCU, are the connections made in there?
The cable to the boiler is a 5 core flex and the wiring to the Hive appears to be a 3 core + earth.

The terminal connecting the short link wire between L and 1 also appears to be biting into the insulation, rather than the wire.
...and a really silly question - it's happened before - you do have the single channel Hive?

And I should clarify - when you moved the brown wire to 3, what doesn't turn on?
If the Hive itself doesn't turn on, you need the black wire in 3 and the brown wire in L.

I think it’s wired wrong. As per @RandomGrinch you need to ascertain where this wiring goes, do the colours follow suit inside the boiler? Make sure you safety check the boiler afterwards after removing the cover.

It seems a 5 core cable leaves the boiler 1717022839348.png the colours are hard to make out, but does not seem to be same cable as shown in the other picture as it has swapped from flex to three and earth, so there must be a junction box some where.
