Hi, I've recently replaced our Honeywell controller and thermostat (approx 20yrs old) for Hive Active V3 (dual controller).

The hot water works fine however although the boiler fan kicks in on activating the heating there is no ignition.

All Hive status lights are as they should be.

I've included a pic of the original controller wiring and diagram along with a connections diagram form the Hive manual.

A pic of my wiring to the Hive is also included (post-it note labels will be coming off).

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Thank you.

Did you decommission any existing thermostats or set to maximum?

Thanks- no just disconnected and replaced with the Hive stat. Is there a simple means of doing that or is it a call out job?

Turn you old thermostat up to max and see if the boiler fires up OK. If it does then you need to trace the old thermostat wiring back to the connection box and link the switched live to the normally open terminals.

Simple means, but did you just disconnect and not alter any wiring in the wiring center or join the wires behind? I see x2 motorised valves, have you wired x2 Hives?

Nope just removed the old thermostat, capped and tucked the wiring back in to the recess and fitted the Hive thermostat on to the original back plate.

Just 1 x Hive installed.

That’s the issue then, you may have left your heating open circuit. Although you might be getting confused as you have placed the Hive instead of the Drayton. You also have a photo of different backplates?

The 1st pic is of the original controller wiring and back plate.

The thermostat was a Honeywell (I think!) I've added a pic of the wiring behind the thermostat prior to installing Hive

Thanks by the way!

Right we’re getting somewhere (hopefully). The Hive will control heating and hot water, so this should have been installed where the Drayton is/was. The Honeywell (or previous thermostat) should be either decommissioned, set to maximum or wires joined.

Thanks. I've watched a useful video found online re this - talk about connecting 4 and 5.

I'm glad to hear its's working, but that still doesn't explain:
although the boiler fan kicks in on activating the heating there is no ignition.
If the old thermostat wires were disconnected, nothing at all would happen, the heating control wiring would be 'open circuit' and the boiler fan would not 'kicking in' when the Hive called for the heating.

For future information, you have another thread with the same question. This can waste time as advice can be duplicated. [I had already advised you about the modification required re the old room thermostat 6 hours earlier on your other thread] and it's also against the forum rules.
