A lot of posts mention connecting a 6KW hob using a radial 32amp cooker circuit with 6mm twin&earth cable but I cannot find any reference to the actual lead that goes from the wall cooker connector to the hob itslef.
As far as I can see 6mm or even 4mm flex is not generally available so I persume the hob lead used by most sparkies is just twin&earth ?
One supplier suggested 2.5mm heat resistant flex which can go up to 25amps ?

yes normally use twin & earth to connect to the hob, the heat reistant cable is generally inside the hob taking care of the connectivity to the elements etc via the stats.

Watch clearances on electrical hobs re appliances underneath.
Hobs get very hot on their underside and the spacing requirements.

FTE is the standard cable as mentioned, is stranded & flexible.

Standalone cookers can use Butyl flex (high temp) or HO7 flex (where
permitted) in sizes up to and beyond 6mm, but it costs £10 a meter.
Hence unsurprisingly FTE remains the standard choice.

That's what I decided - FTE. All the instructions say use 6mm H05 RRF which I think is the rubber flex but when I asked the electrical wholesaler they never heard of it in 6mm.

For those after Butyl 6mm 3-core.
www.tlc-direct.co.uk can special order it.
Otherwise they carry 35A 4.0mm in stock.

Alternatives are sound & vision suppliers.

www.warehousesound.co.uk
HO7 6mm 3-core £2.95/metre.
HO7 10mm 3-core is about double that in price.
Min order, postage & vat apply.

www.stagepoint.co.uk/Sales_cables.htm
HO7 6mm 3-core £1.99/metre.
HO7 10mm 3-core £4.48/metre.

In some situations a flex can be preferable.
Eg, if regular cleaning of a freestanding cooker requires it to be
moved a lot - or if on rollers & "shuffles" with door open/close.
Eg, if there is an internal corner, even with inches of clearance
it is not ideal for rigid FTE cable - it is not a proper flex.
Seen too many standalone cooker-drops in FTE kinked & mangled.

Just for the record in case someone ever wants to find it.
Stuff goes up to 381 Amp sizes... guillotine is much simpler.
