I want to install my gas hob in the centre of a 1000 mm. hob unit.
The unit has two drawers so the centre rail for the drawers is underneath the middle of the gas hob.
The work top is 38 mm. and the hob is 35 mm. deep.
The distance between the top of the centre rail (chip board) and the bottom of the hob is 35 mm.
Is this against the regulations in connection with the heat transmitted from the hob?

Sounds like it's against common sense... unless you want a drawer full of hot cutlery!

Read the hob instructions, I do know that Ceramic electric hobs radiate very little heat from below due to the insulation within the element bowl.

You can remove the center rail and replace it with a bracket which is fixed to the back of the cabinet.

The bracket is made for this purpose and fixes to the rear chipboard rail. The guide rails attach to this with self tappers, the normal fixing at the front is still used.

You could try a local kitchen supplier who might have one, you could also cut the rail that you remove, which will be the correct width and do it yourself.

If all else fails and you can get in touch with me, I may be able to help you.
