Hob & Worktop

I am currently installing a new kitchen in a house that I will rent out.

I am told that there has to be a certain amount of work surface either side of the hob, but I can not find the information anywehere.

If anyone knows if there is a reg I would appreciate the link.

The worktop space will concern adjacent vertical surfaces, if the hob is fuelled by gas, the gas regulations if I recall correctly, ask for this distance to be at least 300mm. Which I think even if it was electric hob would be wise, in case electric hob is ever replaced by a gas one.
