Hello, just built a double garden gate and was wanting is nice and secure.

Got a heft hasp and stable on the middle with padlock and was wanting to put a drop bolt on each door of the gate to keep it nice and still. Problem is that under the gate is a huge slab of granite (I live in Aberdeen) and dont fancy drilling two 20mm holes into it for drop bolts.

Ive got about a 60mm gap under the gate so was think about a small block of something on top of the granite that the drop bolts could then go into, any ideas?

If you decide to put some kind of holding plate for the bolts, you will still need to fix them securely, likely need to drill, plug and screw/bolt in.
So just get on with drilling 20mm holes for bolts to drop in to, it wont take long and the pain will soon fade away.
