Hole for waste pipe

Hi
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I need to drill a hole through the wall for a 40mm waste pipe and I wondered if I should use a 40 or 50mm core drill as I assume the outside diameter of the waste pipe is greater than 40mm?

Solvent weld pipe has external dimensions of 43mm.
