Holes in doors!

I was watching Sarah Beeney a couple of weeks and they pulled back boards on the internal doors on a 1930's to reveal the original four panel doors, so while hubby was at work I thought I would take a look at mine.

I pulled the boards back and found mine were also the original doors, I have had them dipped and all the dark treacle like paint has come off and they look lovely their natural colour. The problem is there are a few holes in them, especially on the bathroom one.

How can I repair the holes so that I would be able to leave them their natural and what should I put on them to protect the wood etc??

Pin holes? fist sized holes?

The holes are from nails, some are very small and others are 2-3mm.

The only thing you can do to minimise the visibility of the holes is to fill and then sand down using one of the coloured fillers available from the DIY sheds....you'll get somewhere near, hopefully.

You could use wax sticks to fill holes and oil doors, though dipping can destroy door integrity.

I don't like the fillers I've used from B&Q et al, they are too consistent with unnatural colours. Wood dust and UHO glue gives a more natural look, making it look like a knot. If you intend to stain them, then avoid 2 part filler, it does not take stain.

was it dipped or soaked??
if it was soaked for a few days you need to let it dry out for several weeks before you do any thing
