Holes suddenly appearing in hydrangea leaves

When I have that sort of problem it is usually small beetles that like to attack at night. Difficult to see during the day. Spray with a bug killer

I was thinking more like red lilly beatles. Yours don't survive up here.

Update

Have sprayed both plants with some bug repellent, including underside of leaves.

Will monitor and report back.

Product doesn’t mention frequency. Would you advise daily?

They do! They grow to 4ft long if you feed them beetroot juice mixed with caterpillar skins..

Hi All

On reflection, I think it may have been the terrible sleet we had yesterday. (Spotted some of the damaged foliage on the ground) Will those holes stunt the growth of the flowers?
