homebase screws supplier

Homebase screws. Does anyone know who supplies them to Homebase?

i am going to do some mega-woodworking next weekend. homebase is cheap and convenient but i wonder if i am better off just getting some from screwfix. i have had problems with screws before when i tried to fix the boards in my house so am always wondering

try screwfix or local builders merchant.

screwfix really do deliver next day (although not alwys the right address)

go to a local builders merchant, they will be much cheaper and better quality

Homebase is proabably cheaper than TP for the DIyer

TP more expensive!!!! I would have thought they'd be cheaper and better quality! Or will I not get some special trade discount? There's actually a TP branch about a mile from me, not far from Homebase but I guess they don't open in the evenings.

I have also determined that I must actually buy a woodscrew. Apparently they're different from the silver screws that I usually end up buying....lol

they quite often do multipacks of most of the screwsizes at very good prices, even without any trade discount etc.

You could also try a specialist fastener supplier. Last lot of screws I bought, I got a box of 100 for the same price as a pack of 10 from one of the sheds. The prices on fasteners looked a lot better than the builders' merchants too (and the coffee was free )

Now there's a thought... Buy a big box of screws, put them in little bags and flog 'em off to the sheds at vastly inflated prices..... Damn! somebody is already doing that

re where to buy screws
if you have an HSS hire shop near give them a visit and i think you will be pleasantly surprised at their prices. the last ones i bought were 5X100 or 10X4" in old money at £2.29 for a box of 200(yes 200) and they were bl**dy good too
previous to that purchase i bought a box of 4X50 and 4X60 for about £1.30 a box of 200
as i say if you have an HSS hire shop nearby give them a go
